Food insecurity is increasing among low income groups in New Zealand and has been shown to have a detrimental effect on children’s physical and psychological health and development. 

The Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch City Mission Foods Banks distribute food at close to 140 separate locations throughout the south and north islands of New Zealand.

At the most basic level we all want to provide for our families but circumstances often conspire against us. Factors such as physical illness, depression, addiction, an inability to budget and unemployment can strike any of us at any time. When that happens the City Mission is there to encourage, advise and also to provide immediate assistance by way of food parcels. Dine Aid makes it possible for us to reach out and help. Christchurch City Mission
